Probing the interaction of [Ru(phen)(sub 2)(dppz)](sup 2+) with single standard DNA-what degree of protection is required for operation of the "Light-Switch Effect"?
Article Abstract:
Time-resolved and steady state luminescence and transient resonance Raman measurements are carried out on the complex [Ru(phen)(sub 2)dppz](sup2+) in the presence of single-stranded (ss) DNA either covalently attached or mixed in 1:1 ration with the complex. The results show that complex [Ru(phen)(sub 2)dppz](sup2+) exhibits luminescence enhancement and interaction with ss DNA compared to ds DNA.

Proton-assisted electron transfer in irradiated DNA-acrylamide complexes: Modeled by theory
Article Abstract:
A proton-assisted electron transfer (PA-ET) reaction within a DNA base (thymine)-acrylamide hydrogen-bonded complex is explained using the theoretical calculations at the density functional theory level (DFT). Theoretical results predict that the proton-assisted electron transfer is favorable after the electron attachment to an isolated thymine-acrylamide complex.
